I was called back to shoot the interiors and architecture of Mallinckrodt again. I'm still working through these images, but here's a couple of the new locations on the property that I have finished.

Event: ABBA Tribute

Last night I attended the first night of the Starlight Theater series at Wilmette's Wallace Bowl, a series that has been running every summer for as long as I can remember. The first night's act was an ABBA Tribute band. Below are a selection of my images from the evening.

Event: Jazz in the Park

Today I returned to Mallinckrodt to document the start of the Park District's Summer concert series. I will be returning again throughout the summer to continue documenting these events. Below are a selection of images from today's shoot.

Shooting Day 1 - Mallinckrodt

Today I started off with the architectural side of this project, shooting some images at Mallinckrodt Center. It was a pleasure working with the staff there today, and a great start to my project. Here's a few of the images. More to come soon!

Preface

Hello,

My name is David Velasco, and I am a rising senior at Ringling College of Art and Design. This summer, I will be working on a professional project, and this is my progress blog.

WHO:
I will be working with the Wilmette Park District, a community organization in my hometown that operates various venues, parks, and events throughout the year. The summer is one of their busiest seasons as it adds on operation of beaches, pools, summer camps, summer events, and summer activities.

THE PLAN:
My project will be split into two sections: Architectural/Interiors and Event/Documentary

Architectural and Interiors:
The Park District operates a number of buildings throughout the Wilmette area. I will be photographing both the exteriors and interiors of these buildings to provide them with an updated and consistent portfolio for their use in their catalogs and brochures.

Events/Documentary:
I will attend and photograph several of their events throughout the summer, and also visit their summer camps and programs to photograph. These photos will be given to the Park District for use in their future catalogs and for any other purposes that they see suitable.

FINAL OUTPUT:
My final output of this project will be either one or both of the following:
An independent gallery showing displaying the work produced throughout the summer, both as a retrospective display for myself and as a promotional display for the Park District

OR

A collection of images published into a book, designed by me and donated to the Park District as a final retrospective on the summer's work.
